Kevin Porter Jr Arrested On His Girlfriend’s Assault Charge

As per a disclosure of the NYPD (New York City Police Department) to CNN, Kevin Porter Jr (Houston Rockets guard) faced an arrest on a charge of assaulting a 26-year old-woman. The arrest took place in New York City. According to the NYPD, the victim is his girlfriend. An NYPD spokesperson said to CNN, “Kevin Porter assaulted her, struck her multiple times, and choked her”.  

As per media reports, the police took Porter, a 23-year-old NBL star, in its custody and sent the woman to a nearby hospital. He was held on first charges of second-degree assault and strangulation. A hotel insider said that Kevin Porter came back to the Millennium Hilton near UN Plaza on early Monday morning from his evening out. The hotel is the place where he was staying with Gondrezick, his girlfriend. The woman locked the door after being upset on his late return to the hotel. With the support of the hotel security, he came into his hotel room and beat his girlfriend.     

On his arrest, Mike Bass, the NBA spokesperson, said to CNN, “We are aware of the reports regarding Kevin Porter Jr. The league office is in contact with the Houston Rockets and in the process of gathering more information”.   

Who is Kevin Porter Junior?

Born on the 4th of May in 2000 at Seattle in Washington, Bryan Kevin Porter Jr, KPJ, or Kevin Porter Junior is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Houston Rockets of the NBA (National Basketball association). In his college life, he played for the USC Trojans.

His parents are Bryan Kevin Porter Sr and Ayanna. In the 1990s, his father played basketball, football, and baseball at Rainier Beach High School in Seattle. Kevin Porter Jr was only four years old in 2004 when his father was killed due to five shots in a row. His father was helping someone having an attack. His mother, Ayanna, raised him and became a role model for him.

On his request, his mother made him get into Rainier High School in place of O’Dea High School in Seattle. In his school sports career, he had an average of 14 rebounds, 27 points, and 5 assists. On the 3rd of March in 2018, he participated in a Class 3A state championship. In that match, he scored 22 points and 11 rebounds, but lost the game to Garfield High School. The state coaches association named him Washington Mr Basketball at the end of the season.

In 2019, he started playing basketball for the Cleveland Cavaliers. On the 23rd of October in that year, he made his NBA debut. In his debut match, he lost to the Orlando Magic. Since 21st January of 2021, he has been playing for the Houston Rockets.   

Apart from basketball, he has been in the news for his personal life, especially criminal activities. The Mahoning County Police made a weapon charge against Kevin Porter Jr. On that charge, the Cleveland Cavalier spokesperson said, “We are aware of the situation involving Kevin Porter Jr. and are in the process of gathering information. We have spoken with Kevin and will continue to address this privately with him as the related process evolves”. In January 2022, he faced an allegation from Glenn Consor. Glenn said, Porter Jr., "like his dad, pulled the trigger right at the right time”. However, Glenn apologized to Porter Jr for this.
